Killings On The Plateau, Not Again

Image
There is mass outrage and anger over the latest killings in Plateau state and the anger is justified. When normal humans were planning to enjoy and celebrate Christmas with their families, demons in human forms unleashed one of the worst attacks in recent years on residents of Bokkos, Barkin Laddi and Mangu in Pleateau State leaving over 200 people dead. For how long can we continue like this? In this same Pleateau in May this year over 100 persons, in Mangu/Bokkos federal constituency Plateau state most of them women and children were massacred and butchered in cold blood by terrorists during an overnight unprovoked attack at their houses burnt down including foodstuff, food barns and seedlings. With Adelabu’s return, Oyo APC teeters on the brink

Image
The recent return of Power Minister, Adebayo Adelabu, and his loyalists to Oyo State All Progressives Congress (APC) swelled the opposition party in terms of numbers, but may have deepened the division within the ranks and thrown up more questions in need of answers, SEYE OLUMIDE writes. Last Friday, Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, made a return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State chapter. He had defected to Accord Party in 2022 after losing APC’s gubernatorial ticket to Senator Teslim Folarin under allegedly controversial circumstances. Recall that Adelabu contested the Oyo State gubernatorial election in 2019 under the platform of APC but lost to Governor Seyi Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Image
The famous Russian writer,Leo Tolstoy, observed that the world's two greatest warriors are time and patience. There's nowhere this contradiction works out well other than the Yoruba language. With these statements such as: akoko n lo,ko duro denikan, meaning, time is fast going without waiting for whose ox is gored and onisuuru ni yoo jogun aye, meaning- only the patient shall inherit the world, the world as veritable atmosphere of contradictions is unveiled. While some may argue that it's too early to begin to pen about Oba Olabisi's sojourn on the Okere obaship had better pay heed to one the statements above and the saying too that a minute is a long time in politics let alone four years in the life of a community. I was a part of the collegiate form of voting where we wanted to elect a Chairman for the old Ifedapo local government in one of General Ibrahim Babangida's transition labyrinth in the old teacher's college at Abata Ogun. Association of Defence and Police Officers wives. Nigeria Civil Defence Officers Wives. Association of Federal Road Safety Officers Wives. National Association of Speakers Wives’ Association of Wives of Secretary to State Governments. These are examples of Wives’ associations that have cropped up in the Nigerian landscape. Originally, wives associations were more common in the military. They are Army Officers wives Association, Naval Officers Wives Association, Air Force Wives Association and of course the Police officers Wives Association (POWA). POWA is the most popular of them probably because policemen are closest to Nigerians (civilians) in terms of everyday interactions than other arms of the military. Among their ubiquitous projects are the POWA shops built by them to help raise funds for its purse and for policemen’s wives in need. And now other quasi military organizations such as the Nigeria civil Defence Corp and the Federal Road safety Corp now have their own wives associat
