PAG Condemns Lawyer's Assault By Baale Ilua In Saki, Commends Socio-cultural Organizations
A Socio-political group under the aegis of Political Awareness Group (PAG) ,Saki West Chapter, has strongly condemned the brutal attack and molestation on a human right lawyer, Barrister Waheed Lawal by a traditional chief and his cohorts in Saki .
The condemnation is contained in a press release signed on Monday by its Chairman, Alh. Abdgafar Adekunle, noting that the recent attack, which occurred at Ilua Community forced the group to act .
The statement reads :
"As we, the PAG Saki-West chapter of which Barr. Lawal is a member heard the news of his molestation by Baale Ilua and his cohort, we intended to take a corrective action at our own little capacity but we halted when we noticed the intervention of PAG at the state level and other human right, religious and socio-cultural organizations including NBA, MURIC, Yoruba Welfare Group to mention but few who have all it takes to redress the unconstitutional action"
"We commend the effort being taken by various organization to ensure that our dear city (Saki) is brought out of darkness where issues would be addressed adopting a precolonial method. If Barr. Lawal is at fault, the Baale is not in the right position to correct him in such manner, rather he uses a constitutional mean"
"We want Saki to develop and we want the right of a common man to be protected. If a legal personnel, mouth-piece of oppressed ones, an elderly, civilized and well connected person could be treated like that in our society and the law does not speak what would be the hope of a common man? This is the more reason why we urge you all not to relent in your efforts to ensure that justice prevail"
"At the end of it all, Saki-West PAG does not show a good attitude towards inhumane treatment of Barr. Lawal by Baale Ilua and his boys because we perceive their actions as a disgraceful action to Barr. Lawal, NBA, Saki city, Oyo state and Nigeria at large and it needs to be redressed"
