A year after : We're glad Hon. Tajudeen Were was given another chance||Uthman Adekunle
Today marks exactly 365days that Honourable Tajudeen Abisodun Were was inaugurated for the third time as the Representative of the good people of Saki West, Saki East, and Atisbo Federal Constituency in the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly. Hon Were’s return to office, following an eight-year tenure interrupted by two consecutive unsuccessful re-election bids, and finally, a historic and victorious third attempt has been a blessing to his constituents. Honourable Were swore an oath to commit himself towards discharging qualitative representation for his people and he has so far, keeps to his promise.
He has maximized every avenue available to him to touch the lives of his people. As an experienced lawmaker, he was selected as the chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Culture and Tourism. A duty he has been discharging with unparalleled commitment. He is leaving no stone unturned to contribute positively to the development of tourism and culture nationwide.
Honourable Tajudeen is a man who has a date with destiny. He came into the job with a strong profile based on his performance in his previous 2 stints in the House of Representative. As a politician and leader who knows why he threw his hat into the ring, as soon as he was sworn in to represent Saki West, Saki East, and Atisbo Federal Constituency of Oyo State, he immediately hit the ground running as a legislator. His strides in project facilitation and human development have earned him applause from admirers and critics alike.
Honourable Were fits the bill for a perfect gentleman, exemplifying modest, exemplifying modesty, gallantry, helpfulness, genuineness, meekness, politeness, flexibility, daring, lovingness, friendliness, chivalry, accommodation, perceptiveness, reliability, empathy, bravery, thoughtfulness, hard work, honesty, engagement, liberality, sociability, impartiality, creativity, dependability, ingenuity, and understanding. Unfortunately, he is often misunderstood by some, which is a common human experience. But those who know him closely understand that he embodies all the qualities mentioned above. And I am confident that those that misunderstood him would now have the opportunity of knowing him better.
The Old Ifedapo has witnessed developments in areas such as welfare programs, community support, infrastructure, and human capital development, thanks to the lawmaker's efforts. Some of the projects and programs include: Federal Executive approval for the 91.432km Saki-Okerete road construction project, educational support for indigent students, medical assistance for 120 patients across five hospitals, a donation of 10 million Naira, and the commencement of a 65 million Naira project to build a 1000-capacity auditorium for the Basic Midwifery Saki to College of Health Sciences. Additionally, he facilitated the construction of a block of classrooms at Muslim Secondary School in Tede, Atisbo Local Government, solar street lights, numerous community support programs, and many other interventions .
Most importantly, as part of his key responsibilities, he participated in some debates of urgent national importance. He also sponsored bills, including an Act to amend the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (1999, as amended) to create Oke-Ogun State with Saki as the proposed capital city (HB.1258), the Nigerian Cashew Utilization Board (Establishment) Bill (2024), which aims to establish a regulatory body for the cashew industry, and the Information Technology and Innovation Bill, which promotes technology development and use in sectors like education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship.
He has a strong connection with the grassroots, and they attest that he is sociable, accessible, approachable, and willing to help solve their problems and He has also helped qualified grassroots members secure positions in government institutions and has pledged to continue supporting them as opportunities. Unlike many politicians who become distant after taking office, Hon Were has remained closely connected with his constituents. He is actively engaged in his community. His willingness to respond to calls, messages and concerns of his people with immediate alacrity has made him a beloved figure in the region. The gate of his home is always open to all and sundry irrespective of social class or political affiliations
In addition to his leadership and legislative expertise, Honourable Tajudeen Were due to his ability to listen actively, respond thoughtfully, and convey ideas effectively, possessed strong communication skills as he was well know in articulating complex ideas and policies in a clear and concise manner, while also engaging with members of the House and the public. Hon Were convinced the Progressive members of Old Ifedapo to believe and stick with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Renewed Hope Mantra despite the challenges. The Lawmaker connects and bonds with the people by constantly seeking ways to provide for their welfare.
Although, holding a legislator accountable after just a year in office cannot effectively assess their worth and value, a closer look at his impressive achievements and proactive initiatives suggests that Honourable Were is on the path to success, with the potential to exceed expectations as a public servant
Undoubtedly, Honourable Were’s return to office has been a tremendous boon for Saki West, Saki East, Atisbo Federal Constituency. His efforts are yielding fruitful results. We are glad he came our way again. May his remaining years in office be filled with achievements, fulfilment, and significant contributions to the betterment of Nigeria.
