Okeogun Club Faults Ogbomosho's Claims On The Proposed Okeogun State Creation

 

The Eminent Club of Nigeria, Okeogun Chapter, has criticized the remarks attributed to the Ogbomosho Recreation Club regarding the proposed bill for the creation of Okeogun State.

The Okeogun Club found the statement made by the Ogbomosho Recreation Club regarding the bill's provisions to be both shocking and derogatory. 

In a statement signed and made available to newsmen on Sunday by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Club, Eminent Jide Akinlotan,emphasized that Ogbomosho has never been and will never be part of the geographical entity known as Oke-Ogun.

Hon. Wole Oke, Chairman of the House Committee on Judiciary, presented a draft bill for the creation of Oke-Ogun State to the House of Representatives. 

However, the response from the Ogbomosho Recreation Club criticized the proposed bill for its purported lack of understanding of Ogbomosho's political history within Oyo State.

The statement issued by the Ogbomosho Recreation Club was met with strong rebuke from the Eminent Club of Nigeria, Okeogun Chapter. The Okeogun Club firmly asserted that Ogbomosho's inclusion in the Oke-Ogun region is erroneous and unacceptable. 

They called for the creation of a distinct Okeogun State with its capital situated within the heart of the Okeogun region. The Club urged unity among Okeogun residents and emphasized the importance of respectful discourse in addressing political issues.

The statement reads :

Proposed Bill Seeking Oke Ogun State Creation: Ogbomosho Must Not Draw its Luck Too Far

The riposte of the Ogbomosho Recreation Club on the proposed bill seeking Oke Ogun State Creation shouldn't have attracted our attention if not for the red-herring interpolated by the body that it's either Ogbomosho as capital or the idea of Oke Ogun State had better been perished. What an authoritarian, selfish and insulting claim! This is an affront to the collective intelligence of all thoughtful and well-meaning members of the sub region called Oke Ogun.

In the first place, Ogbomosho was never and can never ever be part of the geographical entity called Oke Ogun. Its erroneous inclusion in the Oyo North Senatorial district where it is fortuitously calling the shots is to a great percentage of the people of Oke Ogun a total aberration. Instead of the political and social gladiators enjoying this feather of Iscarius to keep enjoying the undeserving privilege,they still had the temerity to assert that it's either Ogbomosho as capital of Oke Ogun State or nothing at all. We are trying to tactically avoid the lunatic,he, unfortunately is begging for an embrace at other end of the stream. People need to know how polite and respectful to push a political agenda. The simple and naked fact is that Ogbomosho is an impostor in Oke Ogun. If the good people of Oke Ogun,in their sheer magnanimity,decide to tolerate the town and still gift it with political patronage,this should not be taken for timidity. Other demographic variables that Ogbomosho is parading are not sacrosanct as there are towns which have better geographical statistics and not state capital. 

This same Oke Ogun that is being derided by the people of Ogbomosho had been supportive in making possible what the town parades today as locational opportunities. Oke Ogun rather sees this moment as its own pay back time when Ogbomosho should be expected to rub our own backs the same way Oke Ogun had done for it in the times past.But what Oke Ogun gets back from her brother in the Oyo State political configuration is poisoned chalice. We feel this should not be!

As a Club fully committed to overall protection of Oke Ogun socio-political and cultural development,we stridently call for putting things in proper perspective. Ogbomosho was the political headquarters of Osun North Division in the old Oyo State. 

This is an entity that should have gone to Osun State but chose to stay back in the new Oyo State through clandestine moves. It should be told in plain language that Oke Ogun cannot be made a mince meat of Ogbomosho political wildlife gaming escapade. We unequivocally call for creation of a blue blooded Oke Ogun State with ten Local Government Areas and capital in the heart of the Oke Ogun region of Oyo State. For avoidance of doubt,the ten Local Government Areas are Atisbo,Saki West,Saki East,Kajola, Oorelope, Olorunsogo, Irepo,Iseyin,Itesiwaju and Iwajowa. Any other illegal inclusion of another geographical location in the Oke Ogun enclave is an unwarranted interpolation which we are going to resist.

 The State capital for Oke Ogun, whether feasible or utopian, should be a town in any of these aforementioned local governments. The internal skirmishes in Oke Ogun about capital location is normal in any political struggle. This shall fizzle away when the chips are down. It should not be used by any bystander as a cord of disunity to latch on for political deprivation. We urge our brothers and sisters in Ogbomosho land not to shatter the political camaderie existing between us at this crucial and critical time. We have been supportive all this while and this must not be taken for docility. Remember the Admonition of the great African writer,Chinua Achebe, who counselled those who want to draw their luck too far that those who have their palmkernel cracked for them by benevolent spirits shouldn't forget to be humble.
