Saki Born Judge,Owolabi,Two Others Sworn-in As High Court Judges In Gambia

A Judge of the Oyo State High Court, Saki-born Justice Mohammed Lekan Owolabi , who was recently seconded to the Gambia has been sworn-in as a judge of the Gambia high court with two others- Justices Ruqayat Ayoola, also from Nigeria and George Appah Kwabeng from Ghana .

The Gambia’s Chief Justice Hassan B. Jallow performed the swearing-in yesterday at an impressive ceremony whch took place at the Judiciary Complex in Banjul and was witnessed by their brother Judges, Magistrates and the entire management of the Gambia Judiciary.

The three newly appointed judges were administered oaths of office.

Chief Justice H.B.Jallow while appreciating the governments of Nigeria and Ghana for responding to the Gambia’s request, congratulated the new judges and urged them to be guided by the principles of the profession. He said the trio have a lot to offer the Gambia Judiciary .

This statement is particularly true of the Oyo state Judiciary export ; Justice M. L. Owolabi who will be deploying experiences gathered over the past three decades; with 20 years at the Bar and 10 years on the Bench; laced with several strategic judicial assignments and knowledge advancement conferences, local and international; it’s definitely going to be a win-win situation for the Gambia Judiciary for having this noble Prince; one of the best from the west of Nigeria.
